Woah dudes- It’s been a while since we’ve updated. In our defense, it is really difficult to keep up with blogging when you’re recording guitar parts (that’s where you can really hear the wuhhr in that blurrrr) and Africa Drums with our new friend (pictured above) transforming everything into inspiration. OH, and playing with Dave’s new snow-cone machine (which has a flavor called Tigers Blood)!!! Every one of us had a six year old fantasy of having a snow-cone empire.
Last week we escaped into the night to explore LA and see our friends. Mostly we have been locked up in Sitek’s place working on music non stop. We have all songs finished except one and then the mixing begins. The dancing doesn’t stop. It’s a trick of the mind - dancing. It’s like smoking out a fox hole - but the the smoke is dancing and the fox is a dope ass beat. Feel it.
The African drumming really blew Nik’s mind. He just got got back from Africa, where he was studying Bwiti - and Dave had a Bwitist drum in his garage just sitting there. We added it to the track Village (which was written about Bwiti) and BAM! The song took on a whole new form and kept us on our feet all night long. There were 15 people at the house/recording studio partying and dancing in our village. Super sweet.
Sarah is pretty much ruling the Ping Pong table. She wins games. She destroys boy dreams of beating girls in competitions. But —-she still can’t beat Cuz. She claims to house a hero inside - waiting to strike the dragon that is Cuz, leaving his mountain of victories a mere pile of dust. You can see it in her eyes, her laser beam ganderers. Let’s see if the Tiger’s blood makes her tigress pounce.
Lots of swimming. Eating. Drinking. Exploring. Hacking. Laughing. Dark journeying. Lots of Effing around. Meeting new people all the day everyday. Networking like mother fuckers. But mostly just feeling the music and trying to get people moving their bodies. We’re aren’t sick but we aren’t well.
This just in—Derek beat Sarah at ping pong but she wasn’t trying.
Let’s make high love in Disney Land,
